Located in downtown Las Vegas, this two-story transit center serves as the flagship terminal for the regional bus system. The majority of the structure is comprised of steel construction and curtain wall system. However, it’s the sustainable design and build of this facility that makes it noteworthy. The center becomes only the third building in Southern Nevada to achieve LEED Platinum status, the highest level of recognition from the U.S. Green Building Council. The numerous energy efficient features include onsite renewable energy generation using solar power to offset peak electricity demands, water efficiencies, and materials selection that aim at achieving high performance for the overall structure. In all, the design is estimated to reduce energy consumption by nearly 60%. Lochsa Engineering of Nevada is the Civil Engineer of Record for this project.
