What is Post-Tensioning

Post tension is a technique for reinforcing concrete. Pre-stress steel cables inside plastic conduits or pipes, are positioned in forms before the concrete is placed.  Once the concrete has strengthened, but before the service loads are applied, the cables are pulled tight, or tensioned, and anchored against the outer edges of the concrete.
