With limited site and schedule constraints, this 2.8 million square foot, multi-use facility provided many challenges and many more opportunities for creative, collaborative solutions by members of the design-build team. A unique combination of precast concrete and structural steel framing produced an economic design solution that could be erected quickly with a minimal construction lay down area.
Lochsa Engineering provided the structural engineering design services for the 204-foot tall building that included six parking levels, ballroom and convention floors, and two additional basement levels. The structure features 18-foot deep floor trusses spanning 180-feet above the ballroom floor and 26’-6” deep roof trusses spanning 240-feet above the convention floor. The result is over 210,000 square feet of uninterrupted, column free space. Special concentric steel braced frames provide lateral support for the massive building.
Lochsa Surveying provided alignment/boundary/topographic survey for the design and placement of electrical facilities together with pothole identification survey of existing underground utilities.
