Mr. Karren began learning about construction at the age of twelve helping build his family’s home. He also worked construction while attending college at BYU where he earned his Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. He started his engineering career in 1981 working with his Father who is also a structural engineer and decided to obtain a Master of Engineering degree at Cornell.
Since 1989, he has been practicing structural engineering in Nevada working on many notable projects in the Las Vegas area as well as many other locations in the United States. In the last several years his firm has opened offices in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He is a principal with Lochsa Engineering where he has been working since 1996. Mr. Karren has helped develop and design new structural steel systems that are beginning to be used in the United States. He has designed or supervised the design of numerous structures including schools, churches, office buildings, retail buildings, parking garages, amusement rides, convention centers, tenant improvements, hotels and casinos.
