Mandalay Bay Convention Center

In 2003 the Mandalay Bay Convention Center opened its doors as the fifth largest convention facility in the United States, and the largest meeting facility located on the world-famous Las Vegas Strip.  Among its many offerings, the facility features:
• Nearly 1 million square feet of flexible exhibit space on two levels
• Three levels of elegantly decorated, multi-purpose meeting and function space
• Four column-free, high-ceiling ballrooms ranging from 31,000 square feet to a 100,000 square foot ‘mega-ballroom’
• An elaborate system of operable partitions, capable of creating breakout space to accommodate more than 75 simultaneous meetings

Lochsa Engineering provided complete structural and civil design for the 1.7 million gross square foot facility that was constructed utilizing long-span, structural steel trusses, and large capacity composite floors.  Access to the upper levels was made possible through an exterior vehicular ramp, allowing tractor-trailers to load and unload show equipment conveniently inside on the ballroom floors.
