Completed in 2015, this project entailed the design and creation of a new library and learning commons that incorporated the structure of an existing building, providing our engineers with an exciting set of challenges. The old structure was approximately 2 feet lower than the new construction, and the new structure needed to reflect the style of the existing building and the other buildings around campus.

Structural modifications consisted of new openings in brick walls and removing a stair and elevator to be replaced with a new elevator and floor system. The new addition is a 2-story steel structure with slab on deck floor system. The lateral system consists of moment frames and braced frames.
