2026 CFSEI DESIGN EXCELLENCE – FIRST PLACE WINNER – LAS VEGAS CONVENTION CENTER RENOVATION
Las Vegas Convention Center Renovation
Lochsa Engineering won the 1st Place CFSEI 2026 Design Excellence award in the Municipal category for the Las Vegas Convention Center(LVCC) Renovation. The project involved a $600 million, 4.6 million-square-foot transformation that introduced a unified architectural design, a 75-footdigital panorama, a 98,000-square-foot ballroom, and an underground transportation system.
The most complex engineering challenge involved using 3D BIM, point-cloud data, and advanced cold-formed steel framing to construct the main lobby's "Sno Cone" ceiling, which featured highly irregular, undulating, multi-planar surfaces. This precise engineering approach was crucial to meet rigorous structural load requirements and realize the intricate architectural vision.
