Lochsa Engineering provided structural engineering design and construction services for the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino North Garage in Las Vegas.  This eight-story garage was designed as a concrete moment frame structure with concrete columns and 5-inch thick concrete post-tensioned slabs.  The corner of the garage extended over an existing 64’-0” wide box culvert.  Special consideration and design had to be implemented so that the capacity of the box culvert was not reduced.

The original six-story garage, built in 1999, was approximately 369,000 square feet with 1,088 available parking stalls.  At that time Lochsa Engineering designed the foundations, columns and lateral system to support additional floors for a future expansion.  In 2002 two additional floors were constructed adding 376 spaces for a total of 1,464 and increasing the size of the garage to 491,900 square feet.
