As the cold-formed steel (CFS) specialty engineer on this award-winning project, Lochsa Engineering played a pivotal role in bringing the Los Angeles Chargers' premier training facility and headquarters to life. "The Bolt" features a striking, multi-planar geometric design that mirrors the sharp lines and energy of the team's iconic lightning bolt logo. Spanning 150,000 square feet across 14 acres, the state-of-the-art facility serves as a central hub for professional sports and entertainment in the greater Los Angeles area.

Leveraging building information modeling (BIM) and advanced structural software, our team overcame extreme seismic design criteria to engineer highly intricate CFS systems. We successfully detailed the complex, tapering front entrance wall and its cantilevered "Bolt Peak," the main lobby’s hidden support systems for a massive LED board, and the auditorium's undulating, multi-planar ceiling landscape. Recognized with Third Place in the Municipal category at the 2025 CFSEI Design Excellence Awards, this project stands as a testament to Lochsa's technical expertise and leadership in cutting-edge cold-formed steel engineering.
